Dream of Deceased Father and Building a House in Islam.
Question
Assalamu Alaikum. Recently, I saw a dream in which I saw my deceased father calling me, and in the same dream I saw myself building a house. My questions are: What is the Islamic interpretation of seeing a deceased father calling in a dream? What does seeing building a house in a dream indicate in Islam? Do such dreams carry any message or sign of death? I would be grateful if you could provide proper guidance in light of the Qur’an, Hadith, and the explanations of Islamic scholars. JazakAllahu Khairan.
Islamic Ruling & Answer
VerifiedWalekumussalam,
Dreams are of three types. The Prophet ﷺ said:
(Sahih Muslim 2263)
So not every dream is a message or a sign.
(1) Seeing a deceased father calling you does not automatically mean death. There is no authentic proof for this. The knowledge of death belongs only to Allah.
(2) Seeing yourself building a house is generally considered a positive sign, such as stability or a new phase in life.
If the dream is good, thank Allah. If it is disturbing, seek protection in Allah.
Such dreams are not definite signs of death. They are not certain proof. One should remain calm, make dua for the deceased, give charity, and trust Allah.
