Fasting Without Ghusl After Menstruation

Question

Assalamualaikum...can one fast without purifying herself after menstruation...if bleeding stopped?

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Walekumussalam,

If the menstrual bleeding has completely stopped and there was not enough time to perform purification (ghusl) before the time of Fajr began, then the fast will still be valid. The woman may perform ghusl after the morning begins and then offer her prayer, and the fast will be considered valid.

However, ghusl is necessary for prayer, so it should be performed as soon as possible.

If the bleeding has stopped, a woman may keep the fast even if she has not yet performed ghusl, and her fast will be valid.
