Are My Prayers Valid If I Performed Ghusl Before My Period Had Actually Ended?

Question

Assalamualaikum...a friend of mine purified herself and prayed on 6 th day of menstruation...but then minor bleeding happened that she didnt notice...but she didnt performed ghusl with intentions of purification afterwards as she performed already before bleeding..is all her prayers after minor bleeding invalid?

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Walekumussalam,

If bleeding returned after the sixth day and it was within ten days, then it will be considered menstruation (ḥayḍ). In this case, the prayers performed during that time will not be valid, because prayer is not obligatory upon a woman during menstruation, therefore such prayers cannot be properly performed. Hence, the prayers of the days of menstruation are neither obligatory nor is their make-up (qaḍa) required.

However, if the bleeding occurred after ten days, then it will be considered istiḥāḍah (irregular bleeding). In that case, performing ghusl again is not necessary; rather, it is permissible to pray with wuḍū’, and the prayers will be valid.
