Islamic Ruling & Answer
VerifiedTransgression in duʿā (supplication) means asking Allah for something that goes against the Shariah, involves sin, or is impossible.
Praying for one’s height to increase:
This is not transgression. A person may ask Allah for health and physical improvement.
Praying to lose weight without exercising or eating in balance:
This is not transgression, but it is better to take the necessary means (exercise and balanced eating) along with making duʿā.
Making duʿā without knowing the meaning:
The duʿā is still valid, although it is better to know the meaning so that one can supplicate with more attention and sincerity.
Not knowing the exact meaning of a word (such as “well-being”):
If a person knows that it is a supplication for something good, then the duʿā is valid and there is no problem with it.
