Can Muslims Keep Teddy Bears at Home?

Question

Assalamualaikum. Can we keep teddy bears , if their head is removed ? Thank you

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Walekumussalam,

If the head of a teddy bear or any toy is completely removed, and it is in such a state that the clear form of a living creature no longer remains, then according to many scholars it is permissible to keep it. This is because without the head it is no longer considered a complete representation of a living being.

However, it is still better not to keep such toys displayed prominently in the house, especially in places where prayers are performed.
