How Should Muslims View the IsraelโGaza Conflict Without Supporting Injustice?
Question
I am feeling convicted about the war in Gaza. Originally the war between Palestine and Isreal was about land but the ongoing war now was initiated by the Hamas militants, they killed alot of people and there were speculations of them sexually abusing women but they denied it. Now the people of Gaza are suffering, I don't even know who to support because people who call themselves Muslims like the ISIS, Iran, Al Qaeda will be terrorizing people making Muslims look bad. There is even news of Muslims assaulting and killing Jews in the UK. Islam has been painted as a very violent religion by Islamic extremists, I am really confused and sad. Am I wrong for thinking like this
Islamic Ruling & Answer
Your confusion is natural. Hamas, ISIS, and Al-Qaeda do not represent Islam, and the government of Israel does not represent all Jews. Self-defense is permitted, but within limitsโharming innocent people is never justified. The principled stance is this: wherever there is oppression, from any side, we oppose it and stand with the innocent.
