Unfulfilled Promise and Forgiveness Concern
Question
Assalamualaikum. If a teen , thought of helping raising funds or promoting the gofund me of many , and made a account for it but because of not being experienced , having ocd , and other things was not able to fulfil what he said to others that "I will make one for you" and wanted to leave the acc for safety and as he has understood that ,it's not right for his age but because of ocd , continued but left after his mother showed her concern for his safety as he might be targeted because of his work, after she got to know his work and would not allow it again . Should he apologize to them and what if they didn't forgive him . What would happen to him on the day of judgement if he has regret and has repented sincerely. Should he contact them again ,if he has deleted the account . Or he shouldn't and just contact those , whose number he has . Thank you
Islamic Ruling & Answer
VerifiedWalekumussalam,
If the young personโs intention was to help and he did not cause anyone any financial loss, then he is not sinful. If he could not fulfill his promise, it is better to give a short apology where it is easy to contact them, but it is not necessary to search for everyone.
If he sincerely repents and firmly decides to be more careful in the future, then Allah willing, Allah will forgive him.
And even if some people do not forgive him, as long as he truly regrets it, apologized where possible, and did not actually take away anyoneโs rights, there is hope that on the Day of Judgment Allah will deal with him with mercy and make the matter easy for him.If his mother stopped him for the sake of his safety, then obeying her was the right thing to do. In fact, obeying oneโs parents is a rewarding act.
Therefore, he should not fall into doubts and overthinking. Sincere repentance and self-correction are enough. May Allah grant peace and comfort to his heart. Ameen.
