Ignoring waswas (Doubts) about purity in daily life
Question
If a person is suffering from waswas , should he / she also ignore the doubts he / she gets in his/her... Sorry for ex : if a person goes to the mall and recently touched a cat and gets a doubt that is there cat hair on my hands and checks and finds none and remembers he had touched some clothes and goes to durt them and back of hand touched the cloths and the person thinks , was there cat hair on the back of my hands . Or if a person is removing something from the road that might be harmful for street cats and while picking it falls off and touched her hand and in the middle asks herself that are you sure this was this this and gets the ans no , and then recalls what was she thinking while she was picking it up , and asks , was it that you were unsure if it was this this but still picked it up , and gets the ans most likely and asks any other than that -no . So she touches her bag and now thinks everything she touched is impure and all the people working with her , will get infection .if She cleans her bag and touches the chain of her and and thinks did I touched this part... Should these doubts be ignored too .
Islamic Ruling & Answer
VerifiedYes, all such doubts should be ignored.
What you are experiencing is waswas (whispers/doubts), not reality. The Islamic rule is: unless you are 100% sure that something is impure, mere doubt has no value. โCertainty is not removed by doubt.โ
So whether itโs doubt about cat hair, touching clothes, or your bag or chain ignore all of it and consider everything clean.
Constantly checking and overthinking only makes the waswas worse, so the solution is to not give attention to these thoughts.
