Pronunciation Doubts in Salah and Fear of Shirk
Question
Assalamualaikum What the ruling on this , If during prayer a person gets confuse and is also dealing with extreme waswas about commiting shrik . And also recites loudly in prayer So while , reciting , Ar-Rahmaanir-Raheem. He/she thinks , it's should be r should be doubled and ha is to be pronounced from the bottom of the throat (while not being certain about if it really it to be pronounced like this) , but when one recites , r is not doubled and if ra and ha is doubled , but when coming to end , r is not doubled but ha is pronounced and does it again but same result . the person thinks he/she is not paying attention , so again recites it . But r is not doubled , or something happens and one does not remember it after the prayer .and when recites it softy as there is someone around him /her . Ha is not pronounced correctly . And the person thinks , you cannot pronounce it so just go on , but in the salah , other times ha is produced correctly while some times it is not . So if one pronounced , ha roughly, very roughly, would it change the meaning . And what to do if one cannot remember after teg prayer what really happened and now is worrying about , what if during the prayer , he/she was negligent and now has left the fold of islam . And is it allowed to not learn makhraj as it might make the waswas more bigger in salah. Thank you .
Islamic Ruling & Answer
VerifiedWalekumussalam,
Because of mere doubt and baseless whispers (waswas), neither does the prayer become invalid nor does a person leave Islam. This is a trick of Shaytan, who puts unnecessary fear into a person during worship.
While reciting โAr-Rahmaanir-Raheem,โ if someone is sincerely trying their best but sometimes does not pronounce the แธฅa or the doubled r perfectly, the meaning does not change โ unless the word clearly turns into a completely different word. Small, unintentional mistakes of an ordinary worshipper are forgiven.
Repeating the words again and again because of doubt is waswas, not piety. Once you have recited it, treat it as correct and continue your prayer, because certainty is not removed by doubt.
Learning proper pronunciation is good, but not in a way that increases waswas. Pray calmly and simply, and ignore these thoughts. May Allah grant you peace and ease. Ameen.
