Does smoking break wudu?

Question

Do cigarettes break wudu?

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Smoking a cigarette does not break wudu (ablution). However, since it causes a bad smell in the mouth, and bad odors are disliked by the angels, it is better  before reciting the Qur’an or performing prayer with that wudu  to renew the wudu, or at least rinse the mouth thoroughly and clean it properly.
