Early miscarriage spotting & Salah

Question

Iโ€™m 9 weeks pregnant but the fetus stoped growing at 5 weeks. doctor told to wait for the natural bleeding to start , to miscarry naturally. Iโ€™m having random little bleeding and sporting but no continuous bleeding or pain Can I perform Salah at this point ? Am I pure ?

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

In a 9-week pregnancy, the babyโ€™s limbs and features usually have not yet formed, so the bleeding in such a case is not considered nifas (postnatal bleeding) in Hanafi fiqh. Then, if the bleeding continues continuously for at least 3 days, it will be regarded as hayd (menstruation); otherwise, it is considered istihada (irregular bleeding).

Therefore, since the question mentions only light spotting and occasional bleeding, not continuous bleeding, it falls under the ruling of istihada. You may perform Salah after making wudu, and you may also keep fasting.
