Question
Assalamualaikum My job is finding pictures of the products and making listings on an online store. The model of the business is buyer orders and pay in advance we click the payment received button after the product is in our possession and then shipped to the buyer and if we fail to send the item refund is made. We have clearely mentioned in description that shippment will be made after the payment is received. It is a Halal model? Will my salary be halal?
Islamic Ruling & Answer
VerifiedWalekumussalam,
Yes, according to your description, this business model is fundamentally permissible (halal), because the buyer is clearly informed in advance that payment will be made first and the product will be shipped afterward, and if the item cannot be delivered, a full refund is provided.
However, the condition is that the product must be described accurately and completely, the price and delivery time should be clear, and there must be no deception or misrepresentation.
As for your salary, since your work itself is of a permissible nature (finding images and creating listings) and the business is being conducted according to proper principles, your income is also halal, In shā’ Allāh.
