Question
I bought a necklace featuring "eyes," which are considered a form of *shirk*. Is it *haram* to wear it if I do not believe it will protect me or bring me good luck?
Islamic Ruling & Answer
VerifiedIf the "eye" on the necklace refers to the Evil Eye (Nazar) symbol that some people believe protects against the evil eye or brings blessings and good fortune, then a Muslim should avoid wearing such a symbol even as a decorative accessory, even if the wearer does not believe that it offers protection or has the power to bring benefit or avert harm.
This is because wearing such a symbol may, in some cases, resemble or promote false beliefs and could also lead others to misunderstand the wearer's intentions. Therefore, the more cautious approach is to avoid wearing this type of jewelry and instead choose accessories that do not contain such symbols.
