Is Laylatul Qadr on a Fixed Date?

Question

Assalamualaikum...is laylatul qadr always on a fixed day of ramadan?..its 22nd ramadan on bangladesh but 23rd on saudi arab...do how do we know the odds night...also..is there more chance of laylatul qadr on last 5 days of ramadan or it could be 10 days?

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Walekumussalam,

Laylat al-Qadr is not fixed on a specific date. The Prophet ๏ทบ instructed Muslims to seek it in the last ten nights of Ramadan, especially on the odd nights (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, and 29th).

Due to differences in moon sighting, the dates of Ramadan can vary between countries. For example, one place may be on the 22nd of Ramadan while another is on the 23rd. Therefore, Muslims in each country should count the odd nights according to their own local Ramadan calendar.

The hadith indicate that Laylat al-Qadr can occur on any of the last ten nights, so it is best for Muslims to increase their worship throughout all of the last ten nights.
