Can Muslims Create Artwork Based on Poetry?

Assalamualaikum. If there a poem in which the poet talks about the emotions he/she feels and calls himself/herself selfish , so can one make a painting based on it and gift it to the poet .

Yes, it is permissible to create a painting based on such a poem and gift it to the poet, provided that it does not include anything impermissible according to Islamic guidelines.
