Sex before marriage is not permissible in islam

Question

I want to have sex with my partner, but we're afraid of making a mistake. We live almost like a married couple, and the only problem, because we're not married yet, is the distance and the money. I'm going to see her again after three years, and I'm afraid of making a mistake.

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Since the two of you are not married, having a sexual relationship with each other is not permissible according to Islamic law. Simply considering yourselves like husband and wife, being in love, having a long-term relationship, or facing financial or distance-related obstacles to marriage does not take the place of a valid marriage (nikah).

Therefore, during your meeting, it is necessary to avoid all actions that constitute zina (fornication) or may lead to it. If both of you are serious about each other, you should make every effort to arrange a lawful nikah as soon as possible.
