Shaddah in Recitation: Separate Letters or Not?
Question
If there is a shaddha I know there are two letters Can we recite them seperately or it will change the meaning.
Islamic Ruling & Answer
VerifiedA shaddah indicates two letters, but in recitation they are not read separately; rather, the single letter is pronounced with emphasis (gemination). If they are pronounced completely separately, the recitation becomes incorrect and in some cases the meaning may also change. Therefore, the correct method is to pronounce the letter with shaddah as a doubled (stressed) sound.
