Birthday celebration attendance โ€“ Islamic ruling

Question

If you are invited in a relative birthday party celebration on request of a small child as non religious event without music free mixing then is it halal to go if not how to avoid

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

The basic ruling is that celebrating a birthday as a religious ritual or considering it obligatory is not correct. However, if the gathering is simply for family togetherness, a childโ€™s happiness, and is free from all prohibited elements (like music, immodesty, free mixing, etc.), then attending is permissible.

It is better to treat the occasion as an opportunity to thank Allah for blessings and health, hold a simple gathering, prepare or bring something for the childโ€™s happiness, or give a gift.

Still, if you attend, you should gently advise the family not to engage in prohibited things.
