Can Women Travel Together Without a Mahram?

Question

Can a group of girls travel with each other in foreign countries , if there are no male mahrams .

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

If a group of women travels together to a foreign country and there is no mahram male with them, then according to the majority of scholars this type of travel is not permissible, because in Islamic teachings women are discouraged from making long journeys without a mahram.

However, some scholars have allowed it in cases of necessity or when there is full safety and the women are traveling in a trustworthy group. Even so, the safer and better option is that the journey should be made with a mahram.
