Obeying father about hair cutting

Question

If a father says that his daughter should not cut her hair short , does she have to obey him ? Thank you for your time

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

If a father tells his daughter not to cut her hair short, it is appropriate for her to respect his request, because obeying and pleasing one’s parents is very important in Islam.

However, since cutting one’s hair short is not inherently haram, it would not be considered a sin by itself. Nevertheless, it is not proper to upset one’s parents without a valid reason. Therefore, it is better for the daughter to try to follow her father’s advice with wisdom and respect.
