What Dua Should I Read Before Traveling by Sea?
Question
Are they any specific for when I am about to go on a ocean journey
Islamic Ruling & Answer
Yes. There is no specific authentic dua only for an ocean journey, but when traveling by sea you can recite the general travel dua and the Quranic supplication:
“Bismillāhi majrēhā wa mursāhā, inna rabbī laghafūrur raḥīm.”
("In the name of Allah is its sailing and its anchoring. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful." — Qur'an 11:41)
You may also recite the regular travel dua and ask Allah for safety and protection during the journey.
