Is It Permissible to Submit a False Invoice for an Insurance Claim?

Question

I have company insurance , for eye glasses they can pay max 350 sar but made invoice 555 sar actual paid price 150sar, pls guide me it is haram, what are options make halal

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

No, making a fake or inflated invoice (555 SAR) and taking more money from insurance is not permissible. It is deception and an unlawful way of acquiring wealth, therefore it is haram.

However, if the insurance is provided by the company, then it is only permissible to claim according to the actual expense (150 SAR).

If extra money has already been taken, it is necessary to return it or adjust it in future claims, and one should also sincerely repent.
