Question
I missed suhoor and my family won't let me fast without suhoor so I lied to them that I had suhoor, is this bad or sinful or will my reward be reduced, should I break my fast because they're forcing me or should I continue fast and lie them ??
Islamic Ruling & Answer
VerifiedIf a person misses suhoor but still makes the intention to fast, the fast is completely valid. Eating suhoor is a Sunnah and a source of blessing, but it is not a condition for the validity of the fast.
However, lying to oneโs family was not correct, because lying is a sin. One should repent to Allah and seek forgiveness for it. Nevertheless, this lie does not invalidate the fast, and there is no need to break the fast because of it.
If family members are forcing the person to break the fast, it is better to explain to them politely that fasting without suhoor is still permissible. Once the fast has been started, it should be completed, and breaking it without a valid reason is not correct.
