The limits of du'a

At the level of belief, your faith and conviction in Allah's power are sound, and making such a supplication is not, in itself, an act of disbelief (kufr) or shirk. However, in terms of the etiquette of supplication (du'a) and spiritual refinement (tazkiyah), making unnecessary physical changes a major focus of one's du'a is not praiseworthy; rather, it comes close to iʿtidāʾ fi al-duʿāʾ (exceeding the proper limits in supplication). Therefore, it is more appropriate to avoid this style of du'a and instead focus on seeking success in matters of faith and the Hereafter. In this way, both your belief remains sound and your manner of supplication stays closer to the Sunnah and the way of the righteous predecessors (Salaf).
