Is Shab-e-Baraat Proven in Hadith and Is Fasting on 15th Sha'ban Necessary?

Question

Is the virtue of Shab-e-Bara’at proven from hadith? Is fasting on this day necessary?

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Some hadees mention the virtue of Shab-e-Bara’at, but most of them are weak (da‘if). Because of this, scholars say general worship is allowed, but no special worship is proven.

Fasting on the next day is not compulsory. There is no authentic hadith that makes fasting on this day necessary. Voluntary fasting is allowed without considering it special.
