What Should Parents Do If Their Child Refuses to Pray Salah?

Wa ʿalaykum as-salām

In Islam, parents are instructed to ask children to pray from the age of 7 and to be firm at the age of 10 if they do not pray, but always with love, patience, and wisdom.

REFRENCE:

“Command your children to pray when they are seven years old, and discipline them for it when they are ten.”

(Abu Dawood, 495)

What you should do:

Avoid force and anger

Be regular in Salah and set a good example

Explain Salah in a gentle and simple way

Encourage the child with small rewards and motivation

Continue making dua consistently

Quranic dua (Wazifa)

رَبِّ اجْعَلْنِي مُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةِ وَمِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِي ۚ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَاءِ

Surah Ibrahim 14:40

Meaning:

“O my Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and from my offspring as well.”

How to recite:

Recite once after every obligatory(Farz) Salah

Make dua for your child by name
