Question

Is there guidance in the coran about why some souls are guided by Allah and other no ? Is it a Muslim mission to remind non Muslim believers that true belief is from Allah only ?

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Yes, the Qur'an provides clear guidance on this matter. On the one hand, Allah states that guidance is entirely under His control, and on the other hand, He also makes it clear that human beings have been given intellect and free choice to accept or reject the truth. Allah does not wrong anyone. Rather, whoever sincerely seeks the truth, Allah opens the path of guidance for them, while whoever knowingly turns away from the truth out of arrogance, stubbornness, or deliberate rejection, Allah leaves them to the path they have chosen.

Allah says:

โ€œIndeed, you cannot guide whom you love, but Allah guides whom He wills.โ€

(Surah Al-Qasas 28:56)ยป

Allah also says:

โ€œAs for those who accept guidance, He increases them in guidance and grants them their piety.โ€

(Surah Muhammad 47:17)ยป

And He says:

โ€œSo when they deviated, Allah caused their hearts to deviate.โ€

(Surah As-Saff 61:5)ยป

These verses show that Allah's guidance is based on His perfect wisdom and justice. He does not misguide anyone arbitrarily or treat anyone unjustly.

As for the second questionโ€”whether it is the duty of Muslims to remind non-Muslims that true faith is granted only by Allahโ€”the answer is yes, but with the correct understanding.

The responsibility of Muslims is to convey Allah's message, clarify the truth, and invite people to Islam with wisdom and good character. Creating faith in people's hearts is the work of Allah alone.

Allah says:

โ€œInvite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction.โ€

(Surah An-Nahl 16:125)ยป

And Allah said to the Prophet

โ€œYour duty is only to convey the message.โ€

(Surah Aal 'Imran 3:20; see also Surah Ash-Shura 42:48)ยป

For this reason, the Prophet ๏ทบ spent his entire life conveying the truth to people, yet he never considered it to be within his power to place faith in their hearts, because guidance belongs to Allah alone.

Therefore, Muslims should call people to Allah, clearly explain the truth, and pray for their guidance, while firmly believing that granting guidance belongs only to Allah, whereas conveying the message is the responsibility of His servants.
