Unaware Prayers During Menstruation

Question

Assalamualaikum...my friend has always purified herself and prayed on 6th day of menstrual cycle for yrs...but then she realized there was mild red bleeding even on 6th day..she was completely unaware...are her yrs of prayers invalid??will she not get any sawab for her previous prayers?

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Walekumussalam,

If she truly did not know at that time and was praying after purifying herself according to her understanding, then there is no sin upon her. However, the prayers offered on the days when menstruation was actually continuing are not considered valid in Shariah.

Since prayer is not obligatory during menstruation, making up (qada) those prayers is also not required. Nevertheless, due to her sincere intention and effort, it is hoped that Allah will grant her reward.
