Zakat on gold below nisab

Walekumussalam,

In the situation mentioned in the question, if you possess only 4 grams of gold and, apart from this, you do not have any cash or other zakatable assets, then Zakat is not obligatory on this gold, because the nisab of gold is seven and a half tolas.

However, if you have some cash along with the 4 grams of gold, then the current value of the gold will be added to the cash, and the total value of the assets will be considered. If this combined amount reaches the nisab of Zakat and one lunar year passes over it, then it will be obligatory to pay Zakat on the total amount.
