Question
How does a marriage between a catholic man and a Muslim woman happens ?
Islamic Ruling & Answer
According to Islamic Shariah, a Muslim woman is not permitted to marry a non-Muslim man, even if he is Catholic.
Qur’an:
وَلَا تُنكِحُوا الْمُشْرِكِينَ حَتَّىٰ يُؤْمِنُوا
“And do not marry your women to polytheistic men until they believe.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:221)
More explicitly:
لَا هُنَّ حِلٌّ لَّهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحِلُّونَ لَهُنَّ
“Those women are not lawful for them, nor are those men lawful for them.”
(Surah Al-Mumtahanah 60:10)
Therefore, marriage to a Catholic man would only be possible if he genuinely accepts Islam, after which the marriage can be conducted according to Islamic law.
And Allah knows best.
