Maintaining family ties with wisdom and respect

Question

My husband refrain me from going to my parents house. He said either you stay with your parents or stay with me. I stay abroad alone and I am coming to my home country, he said you won’t meet your parents. Because he has some problems with my mother, he said you won’t go meet your parents.

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

It is not right for a husband to completely prevent his wife from meeting her parents, especially when the parents need her. Despite disagreements, family ties and maintaining relations should be preserved with wisdom and respect. Gentleness, communication, and understanding from both sides are the path to peace in the home.
