Salat-ul-hajat: Simple method and guidance

Question

what is salatul hajat and how do you pray it? is there a specific time and specific dua for it? I heard its the prayer of needs and would like to offer it but im kind of lost here

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Salat-ul-Hajat is a voluntary (nafl) prayer that a person offers when they have a need and want to ask Allah for it.

The method is simple: pray 2 rak‘ahs (units) of nafl prayer. After finishing, praise Allah, send blessings (durood) upon the Prophet , and then make dua for your need.

There is no fixed time for it. You can pray it anytime except the disliked times. However, praying at night or after Isha is considered better.

As for a specific dua, there is no compulsory one. A dua starting with “Allahumma inni as’aluka…” is mentioned in hadith, but you can also make dua in your own words.
