Use of VPS is permissible?

Question

Assalamu Alaikum Mufti Sahib, I have a question related to my online business. I live in Pakistan, but I have a foreign-registered LLC company. I sell products on eBay and manage my business online. For business operations, I use a VPS (Virtual Private Server) so that my internet IP matches the country where my business is registered. My intention is not to deceive or commit fraud. I only use the VPS for a stable connection, account security, and to comply with international platform requirements. Is using a VPS in this manner permissible (halal) according to Shariah? JazakAllahu Khair.

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Walekumussalam warahmatullahi wabaraktu,

If you are using a VPS (Virtual Private Server) only for business convenience, account security, and to meet technical requirements of the platformโ€”and there is no deception, fraud, or false information involvedโ€”then it is permissible in Shariah.

However, it is important that you do not violate the policies of the platform you are using, such as eBay. Also, you should not give any false impression to customers, for example claiming a location that is not true.

Therefore, if your use of VPS is limited to valid purposes and does not involve cheating or harming anyoneโ€™s rights, then it is allowed. But if it includes any kind of deception or violation of policies, then it should be avoided.
