Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Walekumussalam,

It should be understood that, regarding clothing, the Sacred Shariah has not obligated a woman to wear one specific style or type of dress. Rather, it has laid down certain fundamental guidelines that must be observed. As long as these guidelines are fulfilled, a woman may wear any style of clothing. In summary, these conditions are:

1. The clothing should not be so short, thin, transparent, or tight that the parts of the body which are obligatory to cover, or their shape, become visible.

2. It should not resemble the distinctive clothing of men.

3. It should not imitate the distinctive dress or symbols of the disbelievers or openly sinful people.

Therefore, if a garment fulfills these conditions, it is permissible for a woman to wear it. However, if these conditions are not met, or if the clothing is specifically considered to be men's attire, then it is not permissible for a woman to wear it.

Accordingly, if you wear very loose trousers together with a long and loose shirt, tunic, or abaya in such a way that the parts of the body that must be covered, as well as the body's shape, are not visible, the clothing is neither transparent nor revealing, and it does not resemble the distinctive dress of men or non-Muslims, then, in shฤ' Allฤh, your attire fulfills the requirements of the Islamic hijab, and there is no sin in wearing it.

May Allah accept your concern for modesty and hijab, and grant you steadfastness upon His religion. Aameen.
