Divorce before rukhsati and iddah

Question

If a sister is divorced before rukhsiti is iddha period required. Nikha was performed and she was divorced before the rukhsti . No physical relationship was established Please guide accordingly

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

If a divorce takes place before rukhsati (consummation of marriage or valid seclusion), then according to Islamic law, no iddah (waiting period) is required.

Therefore, in the case mentioned, if the woman was indeed divorced before rukhsati and before any valid seclusion (khalwah sahihah) was possible, then iddah was not obligatory upon her. Consequently, she is permitted to contract a marriage with another person.
