Can a Muslim Woman Become a Gynaecologist?

Question

Assalamualaikum..i m a female and want to be a gynaecologist...but it is stressful and requires working day and night..sometimes whole night..environment is also toxic and praying is also difficult..is it permissible for me to be a gynaecologist?

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

Walekumussalam,

Yes, becoming a gynecologist is permissible. It is a good and needed profession, because women are more comfortable with female doctors. However, you must protect your prayers and religious limits. If you can manage your faith properly, this work can also bring reward.

If protecting your faith is not possible there, then you should look for another institution where you can practice your religion properly. If even after sincere effort no such place is found, then it is better to give priority to your faith.
