Does Tasting Food Unnecessarily Break the Fast?

Question

Does tasting something unessecerly breaks the fast

Islamic Ruling & Answer

Verified

If there is a necessity, tasting something while fasting is allowed. If there is no necessity, tasting is disliked (makruh). However, if a fasting person tastes something and it does not go down the throat, the fast is not broken. But if it goes down the throat, the fast will be broken.
