Assalamu Alaikum, I would like to ask about the permissibility of using Zakat money to pay for the MBBS education of my maternal auntโs son. He wants to pursue MBBS, but his family is financially unable to afford the fees and other educational expenses. I am willing to help him with my Zakat money so that he can continue his medical education. My questions are: 1. If he and his family are eligible recipients of Zakat due to their financial condition, can I give my Zakat to him for his MBBS fees and educational expenses? 2. Can Zakat money be used specifically for university/medical college tuition fees? 3. Is there any issue with giving Zakat to my maternal auntโs son, since he is my relative? 4. If the college requires the fees to be paid directly to the institution, can I pay the college directly from my Zakat money, or does the money first need to be given into his ownership (Tamleek) for the Zakat to be valid? 5. If Tamleek is required, what would be the correct Shariah-compliant procedure for arranging the payment of his MBBS fees?
